We are a cello and trombone duo specializing in the performance of contemporary music. Both musicians are active collaborators with young and established composers and have performed together throughout Europe, including Basel, Zurich, Strasbourg, London, Huddersfield, Frankfurt and Berlin.
ELLEN FALLOWFIELD - cello

Ellen Fallowfield studied cello with Andreas Lindenbaum and Martina Schucan in Graz and Zürich. She undertook specialised studies in the performance of contemporary music at the Musikhochschule Basel. She is an active interpreter of new music; the composers Helmut Lachenmann, Beat Furrer, Erik Oña, Caspar Johannes Walter and Carola Bauckholt have been particularly informative, as has collaboration with young composers in the creation of new works. Regular performances as a guest in various ensembles have taken her to international festivals, including Musik Triennale Köln, Acht Brücken neue Musik für Köln, Musikfest, Berlin, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and the Lucerne Festival. Ellen Fallowfield is the creator of the online resource www.cellomap.com.
STEPHEN MENOTTI - trombone

Stephen is a freelancing trombonist living in Basel, Switzerland. He studied with James Desano at Oberlin Conservatory and with Mike Svoboda at the Musikhochschule in Basel. His passion for contemporary music has led him to perform with numerous ensembles including musikFabrik, Remix Ensemble, Collegium Novum Zürich, Ensemble Phoenix and the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE). After participating in the Stockhausen courses in Kürten in 2010, he has often appeared in performances of Stockhausen’s music.
